Our Story
L.I.F.E. Academy is inspired by the lived experience of founders Gregory St. Pierre and Jamila Safiya Gordon.
In the 1980’s in Kingston, Jamaica Gregory St. Pierre Gordon (Snr.) and Grace Walker
Gordon, co-author of Longman Published English Language Textbook staple, New Junior English Revised (NJER) and Sunsong 1, 2, 3 & 4, homeschooled their 3 children - Gregory, Lydia and Samuel. This pioneering spirit continues and their eldest son, Gregory St. Pierre Gordon grows up.
His story continues with him heading off to Japan for the love of his life, Jamila Safiya Gordon who he marries in Japan (first two Jamaicans to do so) where they both teach for close to a decade. They come back to Jamaica where they eventually become the founders of L.I.F.E. Academy, having been blessed to homeschool their own daughters Zuri, Aimi and Megumi. The purpose for homeschooling was always to take full responsibility for preparing their children for a life where they would thrive and live life - life abundant. Hence the name

Friends ask for help particularly during a time in the history of mankind where learning from home suddenly became mandated. Suddenly, Gregory and his family seemed ‘ahead of the curve’ and generously shared their wealth of experience. In helping neighbours and friends by sharing their rich heritage and knowledge with others, their core values of loving our neighbours as we love ourselves seemed to have a lifeing impact.
According to Gregory, “When our neighbours thrive we thrive even more and life is better!” In sharing his story, they continue to make history by helping others transform their homes into institutes of higher learning. Many who received and applied the counsel, apart from saying thank you, would also say - you have a business! - you can help so many more like myself!
So, every day we make history by impacting lives with our story.
